It's not often we get the chance to work on a modern and sophisticated residential home with the task of future-proofing its design elements. The Zandspruit house presented this very opportunity - a blank canvas for us to imbue with the best of our design nous. While we curated amazing, one-of-a-kind pieces, like a replica 1930s Spanish chair, we had to focus on the overall look which wasn't about individual items but a practical, flexible home with furniture that could easily be moved around to suit any occasion or mood.
One particular stroke of genius was a round table that we made from scratch and became the heart of social gatherings, encouraging conversations to flow freely. Seeking uniqueness and character, we spent the time on sourcing pieces that added that extra touch of personality. Lighting played a crucial role in creating the desired ambiance, and we spared no effort in finding the perfect atmospheric lighting solutions.
The result is layers of texture and warmth, with mats layered over one another creating an inviting and eclectic mix. And let's not forget the little details that made a big impact... We poured our hearts into custom-making a coffee table that became a true centrepiece in the living space.
The soft furnishings were a work of art, although we say so ourselves! We adorned the rooms with beaded cushions, hand beaded by local artisans, that added pops of colour and charm, along with handmade beaded lights in the bedrooms that brought a touch of magic after dusk. As a sneaky design trick, we even created custom socks for the light chains, infusing a hint of playfulness into the overall design. It was an absolute joy to bring our client's vision to life, crafting a home that blended beauty with functionality in the most delightful way.
