STYLE THE LOOK

The owner's quirky sense of style shines through in this stylish home. It was an old, thatched house, set on a riverbank in the bush beneath a huge, ancient jackalberry tree, and as a result was quite dark, so the first task was to introduce new lighting, with two nine-bulb chandeliers to add light.

The rest of the brief was to create spaces that reflect the eclectic but clever influence of the owner, combining unique objets d'art, boho chic and a zany sense of humour! This project took on a fun life of its own as we started repurposing the existing furniture and incorporating original pieces of art from around the world.

We even got to use some of the old train pieces that the client had collected, like hat racks and mirrors. The end result was a mix of vintage and mismatched items, with anything that caught the client's eye being fair game. The lounge area was a perfect example of this with a modern feel paired with traditional couches, and the lighting complementing the roof.

Plants were used throughout the space to create a lively and vibrant atmosphere. The staircase comes from India, and we used chip stone cladding to create a unique look. We repurposed coffee tables and soft furnishings, which were made or recovered. It was an exciting project with lots of mixing and matching and the end result speaks for itself.
